2025 Volunteer Information

Join us in celebrating West African culture, rhythm, and community! We’re looking for passionate, reliable volunteers to help bring the festival to life. Explore the roles below and sign up for the one that best fits your interests and skills.
Set-Up Team Volunteer
Dates Needed: Thursday, June 12th
Role Summary: Assist with setting up event spaces including classrooms, vendor areas, and performance spaces.
Key Tasks:
• Unload and organize tables, tents, chairs, signage, and supplies
• Help instructors and vendors set up
• Ensure the environment is safe and welcoming
Breakdown Team Volunteer
Dates Needed: Saturday, June 14th
Role Summary: Help tear down and clean up the venue after the event.
Key Tasks:
• Pack up supplies and materials
• Take down signage, tables, and tents
• Ensure all areas are clean and orderly
Vendor Manager
Dates Needed: Friday, June 13th and Saturday, June 14th
Role Summary: Support and oversee vendor operations and maintain festival ambiance.
Key Tasks:
• Ensure vendors follow policies and have what they need
• Monitor setups and assist with compliance
• Maintain ambiance (including music and environment)
• Act as liaison between vendors and event team
Dance Class Manager
Dates Needed: Friday, June 13th and Saturday, June 14th
Role Summary: Ensure smooth operation of all dance classes.
Key Tasks:
• Confirm class setup and instructor timing
• Ensure only registered students are present
• Support classroom management and timing
Drum Class Manager
Dates Needed: Friday, June 13th and Saturday, June 14th
Role Summary: Oversee drum class setup, participation, and timing.
Key Tasks:
• Check equipment and space setup
• Confirm class setup and instructor timing
• Ensure only registered students are present
• Support classroom management and timing
Transportation (Driver)
Dates Needed: Thursday, June 12th- Sunday, June 15th
Role Summary: Drive performers and instructors between airport, hotel, and venue.
Key Tasks:
• Follow scheduled pickup/drop-off times
• Maintain safe and clean vehicle environment
• Represent Ayoka with professionalism
• MUST HAVE VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE.
Fundraising Team
Dates Needed: Throughout festival days
Role Summary: Manage t-shirt and merchandise sales to support Ayoka.
Key Tasks:
• Promote and sell festival merchandise
• Track inventory and handle payments
• Engage attendees with positive energy
Lunch Catering Team
Dates Needed: Lunchtime during festival days
Role Summary: Serve lunch to designated participants and performers.
Key Tasks:
• Check meal access list or badges to ensure that only those that all should be receiving this serve, are.
• Serve food efficiently with hospitality
• Maintain a clean and welcoming lunch space
Tasks Location: Florida State University School of Dance at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 13th and Saturday, June 14th
Dinner Catering Team
Dates Needed: Dinnertime during festival days
Role Summary: Provide dinner service for authorized individuals.
Key Tasks:
• Check meal access list or badges to ensure that only those that all should be receiving this serve, are.
• Serve food efficiently with hospitality
• Maintain a clean and welcoming dining space
Tasks Location: Hotel at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 12th, Friday, June 13th and Saturday, June 14th
LOCATION: Florida State University School of Dance, 130 Collegiate Loop, Tallahassee, FL 32304
FESTIVAL HOURS: Friday and Saturday, 9:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
PLEASE NOTE: Applications should be received no later than Monday, June 9th.
PLEASE DO NOT PLAN TO VOLUNTEER IF YOU HAVE NOT RECEIVED A
WRITTEN CONFIRMATION FROM THE FESTIVAL COORDINATOR.
